Our artisan bread is healthy and delicious. Starting with carefully selected flour, filtered water, and natural bacteria, we prepare our own unique starter. Strong rustic flavor is achieved by long and temperature controlled fermentation process. The final step - baking in our stone deck oven, keeps our bread crusty on the outside and moist on the inside. Besides exceptional taste, shape and color, we also achieved extended freshness without any kind of artificial additives.

Old Granny's 100% Rye is the closest bread you will find to the very popular traditional straight rye bread you can buy in Poland. I discovered this form of rye bread wjen I lived in Poland in the early 90s. I fell in love with its rich nutty flavor and loved its longevity of freshness and its versatility to accommodate various types of sandwiches, toasts, and other uses. In fact, I evolved a series of vegan sandwiches with generous slices of veggies to which this rye held up well. It took me a little time to research who made this authentic rye here in NYC, but I am so glad and blessed that I found it.

I love this bread and buying it well over 5 years. It's always a challenge to find it in stores. That's why, when I see it, I buy all (usually 3-4, no more). Now, Instead of hunting down my favorite bread at stores, I'm ordering straight from the Northside Bakery website. With fast shipping and delivery plus cheaper prices than in stores,it's now my best choice. Bread quality is always perfect.
Well, I only got to enjoy the bread for a few days when I noticed something growing on it. Needless to say I'm super disappointed. I think I'll start looking at local bakeries. I'm just hoping it wasn't because the bread was already old when it shipped.
